PROTECTION AGAINST HOLD-UPS & FORCE OF ARMS

WAT IS "DUPLIVER" bullet proof safety glass ?

It is a laminated glazing, a composite glass product consisting of at least three glass panes permanently joined together by several synthetic interlayers. Pressure and temperature during manufacturing are such that the synthetic PVB layers become permanently bonded to the glass.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF "DUPLIVER" LAMINATED BULLET PROOF GLASS ?

The main feature of this type of glass is as follows: in case of damage or breaking, and depending on its composition, the glass meets the requirements concerning test S or N.S. and the bullet does not pierce the glass. On the other hand, and contrary to tempered (toughened) safety glass, this type of glass can be worked after manufacture. This is a second important feature. It can thus be sawed, cut or tapped. Furthermore, Dupliver® glass keeps its original value as time goes by thanks to the high quality of its components. Some other, ‘temporary’ protections do not have this advantage. In addition, the identification of each glass volume by means of an individual code is a psychological deterrent.

THINGS WORTH KNOWING

1. Product Advantages
Acoustic comfort

Because of its composite structure, Dupliver laminated glass increases the acoustic value, compared to normal glass in the same thickness.
Thermal comfort
In the single and certainly also in the insulated version does Dupliver laminated glass increase the thermal comfort.
Visual comfort
The use of coloured folio instead of clear folio improves the visual comfort.
Protection against UV radiation
The folio practically stops all UV rays and thus protects against discolouring of items in shop-windows.

2. Maximum manufacturing dimensions
2500 x 3500 mm and limited to a maximum of 350kg per pane.

3. Technical precautions during installation
Here we specially refer to :
- The NBN 23 - 002 unified technical specification.
- General specification for private construction works.
Technical regulations, part 2, section 22. Glass and mirror works, 1982, as well any further amendments.
The following technical requirements deserve special attention:

  1. Minimum requirements for mechanical resistance of the windows.
  2. The height and width of the grooves should be suffiicient adapted to the total surface area of the glass. Ventilated grooves are necessary.
  3. Nature of the sealing compounds (neutral silicones).
  4. Fitting of glass strips.
  5. Side to be exposed to potential bullet impacts.
  6. Identification number on every window pane.
  7. The thickest glass pane should be exposed to the side of the agressor.
4.
The bullet proof glass can also meet standards for burglar proof glass. However, one should bear in mind that burglar proof glass must be set in a frame. Usually, bullet proof glass used for counters is installed without such a frame, in which case it does not meet the standards for burglar proof glass. One also needs to bear in mind that under no circumstances can the glass composition be altered, otherwise, the certification will automatically expire.
